Do you want to learn more about astrology but aren’t  sure where to start?

Here is a list of some of the best free astrology study resources available on the web to help get you started right.

Essential astrology resources for beginners

Astrology charts and tools

  • Astrodienst features high quality resources available to the public for free. They are mostly referenced for their awesome charting system (found under the ‘Extended Chart Selection’ tab) BUT beyond this they offer wonderful reading including articles by esteemed astrologers such as Rob Hand, Liz Greene and Dana Gerhardt, to name a few.

For study and essential reading resources use the tab ‘All About Astrology’.

If you are looking for a great place to start on Astrodeinst, I would highlight Gerhardt’s series on HOUSES, PLANETS and SIGNS – all designed to help you get a better feel of the astrology wheel itself. Wonderful stuff.

  • Astro-seek  has e v e r y t h i n g you need to chart, map and track transits, progressions and cycles. It features tons of incredible tools for the modern AND the traditional astrology student. Amazing work.

Astrology study forums and reading

  • Astrology Weekly offers excellent forums but also a learning section featuring, among other things, free astrology books to read online and some available for download!
  • Astrolearn – “Astrolearn is an astrological learning and reference resource created and managed by Philip M. Graves, a British astrological historian”. It is packed with brilliant resources tailored for more in-depth study. A particularly good place to start there is the wonderful articles section focusing on base concepts of astrology and more.

Delving deeper – intermediate astrology study

  • The Astrology Podcast hosted by Chris Brennan is a wonderful resource for intermediate level student/practitioner. From their ‘About’ page: “Started in 2012, the purpose of The Astrology Podcast is to provide intermediate and advanced level discussions about astrological topics, ranging from explorations of specific techniques, to treatments of issues pertaining to the history and philosophy of the subject.” I thoroughly enjoy this podcast and always come out with a new insight or few.
  • Skyscript by Deborah Houlding is packed with quality resources and articles on classical / traditional astrology. It is truly a treasure-trove. Mind your bite size and practice what you read for best results  🙂

  • Aquarius Papers by Robert Wilkinson is one of my favourite go-to sites when I need a some perspective. Mr. Wilkinson does a wonderful job helping bring celestial motion, configurations, currents and underlying symbolism to light in a cohesive way.

This page is periodically updated. Do feel free to drop me a line if you have any suggestions or comments.

Please note: I am NOT affiliated to any of the above suggested sites, schools or astrologers. If I do become so I will advise accordingly. The recommendations I give are based purely on the quality of the resources uncovered during my own astrology studies and selected for the student’s benefit – not for my benefit or any third party’s.
